CDI College Joins Hike for Hospice Palliative Care 2016

April 21, 2016 | Alberta

Come out on May 1st from 1-4pm and help raise funds for this rewarding cause!

EDMONTON, AB – April 21, 2016 – On Sunday, May 1, CDI College’s Edmonton campuses will be participating in the Hike for Hospice, a unique fundraising event that brings together organizations to raise funds and awareness within their community for hospice palliative care.

Did you know that only 16 to 30 per cent of Canadians have access to receive hospice palliative and end-of-life care services and even fewer receive grief and bereavement services?

CDI College has always been a proud supporter of the community and its causes. This year, the Health Care Aide and Business Administration Management staff and students are partnering with Saint Elizabeth Health Care in hopes to make a difference within their community by taking part in this rewarding journey. From Pilgrims Hospice Society to MacKinnon Ravine and back, the 2016 Hike for Hospice Palliative Care will take approximately three hours from start to finish.

May 1st, 2016 marks the 14th annual Hike for Hospice Palliative Care. Last year, over 100 organizations hosted hike sites and the charity event successfully raised $800,000 more than the previous year, bringing the total to over $2.6 million across Canada in 2015. The purpose of the Hike is not only to raise funds for hospice palliative care in Canada, but to raise awareness of the many challenges faced by professionals and volunteers in the field. As part of the initiative, all funds raised within each community stay within the community as well.
