CDI College Calgary North Hosts The Alex Dental Health Team

May 9, 2017 | Alberta

Calgary, AB - May, 9, 2017 - On Sunday, May 7, 2017, CDI College Calgary North campus was honoured to host The Alex Dental Health Team in our dental clinic. While The Alex Dental Health Bus ran hygiene appointments outside, six Calgary dentists visited our clinic and worked alongside our Dental Assisting program students and graduates to provide gentle, quality dental care to our neighbours.

Six Dental Assisting grads and five current students volunteered their time on the clinic floor and provided oral health education to the patients and their parents. The Dental Assisting program instructors and other CDI College Calgary North staff also offered their time, working alongside the rest of the volunteers.

Founded in 1973, The Alex is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to deliver innovative and accessible health and social solutions. Together with staff and volunteers, The Alex has several health centres throughout the city as well as a Community Health Bus, a Youth Health Bus, and a Dental Health Bus. Providing free dental care to low income children and youth ages 6 - 24, The Alex Dental Bus services include oral health screenings, sealants, hygiene treatments, and education. In partnership with local dental professionals, The Alex also provides Dental Access Clinics for additional services including restorations (fillings) and extractions.

This was an amazing experience for everyone at the Calgary North campus to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of patients in need.

CDI College is very thankful for the partnership with The Alex and look forward to many more successful events ahead!
