Entrepreneurs Have a Positive Outlook on the Future
The month of September saw confidence among entrepreneurs in Alberta rise, mimicking a similar trend across Canada. According to the Calgary Herald, more than half of the province's business owners said that the overall state of affairs was positive in a survey conducted by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB).
Entrepreneurs Confident in Their Positions
Entrepreneurs throughout the country are reporting a strong environment for their growing businesses.
"With a bit more pessimism having crept into the outlook for many small business owners over the summer months, it’s a relief to see things reverse course in September," Richard Truscott, Alberta director for the CFIB, told the news source. "Even better, the revival of optimism among Alberta’s entrepreneurs coincides with a similar rebound across Canada."
More than half a million Canadians are in the process of starting their own businesses, reports Canadian Business, and many experts predict that the trend will increase in the coming months. These future owners are heavily concentrated in Western Canada, with British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan having a relatively large percentage of workers owning a startup. These citizens are taking advantage of a rebounding economy to help pursue their business dreams.
Accounting Skills Necessary for a Startup
Many entrepreneurs are confident in their positions because they have the skills necessary to properly run the business. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the rest of the workforce. According to the survey, 41 percent of entrepreneurs reported that a skilled labour shortage was the main operating challenge, and nearly one quarter said they would be hiring in the next three months.
Students who are considering a career as an entrepreneur or hoping to become an integral part of a business should look into accounting courses, as they can learn skills necessary to succeed in the business world.
Some important elements learned during business courses can help students land jobs in finance, accounting, payroll services or human resources. Accounting can be particularly helpful, as it is a desired skill in workers and business owners alike. Being able to do things like bookkeeping or basic financial workings for businesses can greatly increase a worker's chances of getting hired or succeeding with their own business, as these skills are beneficial for startups and established companies.
Students confident in their own entrepreneurial skills can benefit from the business courses in programs like Accounting and Payroll Administration and Business Administration - Management to help jumpstart their careers.
