The Event Specialist diploma program at CDI College gives you the hands-on training you need to design, plan, and execute special events, including weddings, conferences, outdoor festivals and concerts, and black-tie galas.
Event Planning Program
As an event manager, you hold a key role in supervising décor teams, lighting and audio technicians, and the other skilled trades workers, contractors and volunteers who create the scene for events both large and small.
Event managers are also responsible for the budgeting and financial management, resources planning, contracts and negotiations, and human resources management elements that go into making events successful.
Hands-on Event Management Training
In the Event Specialist diploma program at CDI College, you'll receive training in event planning computer applications, fundraising, bookkeeping and financial accounting, business communications, sales, marketing, and ticketing, and food, beverage, and catering services.
The program includes certifications in WorldHost Fundamentals, FOODSAFE Level 1, Serving it Right, WHMIS, and First Aid/CPR. Further, it includes four certificates from the American Hotel & Lodging Institute (AHLEI): Convention Management and Service, Supervision in the Hospitality Industry, Hospitality Sales and Marketing, and Managing Service in Food and Beverage Operations.
Upon graduation, you'll be ready to take on roles in the special events industry, including conference and meeting planning, event planning, festival organization, entertainment and special events production, and trade show planning.
