Practical Experience That Builds on Classroom Learning

Social work is a field where skills develop progressively through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Practicums give future Social Services Workers opportunities to experience the realities of different settings, observe professional practice, and participate in a variety of support activities.

These experiences provide a deeper understanding of the role of Social Services Workers while helping students develop skills they can draw on throughout their careers.

This practical experience is an important part of CDI College's Social Service Intervention – JWW.0V program, which includes three practicums totalling 690 hours, during which students can progressively apply the skills developed throughout their training.

Experiencing the Day-to-Day Realities of Social Work

Practicums provide students with firsthand experience of the profession.

Students learn how different settings operate, observe professional practices, and participate in activities that reflect the realities of social work.

These experiences help them better understand the role of Social Services Workers in different contexts.

Developing Observation Skills

Observation is an essential skill in social work.

Practicums teach students to pay attention to the different elements of a situation, better understand what people are experiencing, and analyze the context in which they live.

What students learn in the classroom takes on new meaning when they apply it in the field.
