CDI College wins its case before the Superior Court of Quebec

January 12, 2021 | Quebec

Montreal, January 12, 2021 - CDI College. Business. Technology. Healthcare (“CDI College”) is pleased to announce that Judge Florence Lucas of the Superior Court of Québec issued a judgment today ordering the Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration to continue processing temporary selection applications submitted under the International Student Program, despite her Ministerial Order 2020-008.

The Court thus orders the Minister to continue to receive, process and render decisions on applications for temporary selection submitted by foreign nationals registered at CDI College under the International Student Program. From now on, all temporary selection applications will be processed within a normal timeframe, including those for foreign students registered at CDI College and whose Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) expires between December 2020 and March 2021.These students will be able to complete their programs of study as planned.

It should be noted that the ministerial order of December 30th suspended the processing of applications under the International Student Program and caused serious harm to many CDI College students whose lives were turned upside down overnight. “We are relieved to have won our case in the Quebec Superior Court. Ministerial Order 2020-008 had put thousands of students in an untenable situation and they feared for their future. The government would have left them with no choice but to pack up their bags and give up their education,” said Mohamed Slimani, Associate Regional Director Of Operations.

Above all, CDI College remains committed to the academic success of its students by offering quality programs that meet the needs of the Quebec job market. This is how Collège CDI achieves its mission of changing lives, through education, one student at a time.
