New CDI College program trains students to assist occupational therapists and physiotherapists

CDI College’s new Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma program is the best way to get the hands-on training you need to move into a rewarding and satisfying career in healthcare.

Working with occupational therapists and physiotherapists in a clinical setting, physiotherapy and occupational therapy assistants serve a vital role in helping patients recover and return to peak health.

“Occupational therapists and physiotherapists need assistance in caring for their clients,” said Andre Souza, VP of Operations at CDI College. “And our new program will help prepare qualified physiotherapy and occupational therapy assistants.”

On a given day, occupational therapy assistants help patients recover from injury, improve movement, and assist with therapeutic exercise for clients of all ages and ability levels. To be successful in this field, you’ll need to have a keen understanding of the human body, including anatomy, biochemistry, functional movement, human development, orthopaedics, and physiology.

In the Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant program, you’ll gain a new understanding for the rehabilitation process and your role in it, including training in gerontology, therapeutic exercise, client care, communications and records management, and program facilitation.

You’ll also get to put your new abilities to the test in a clinical placement under the supervision of either a physiotherapist or occupational therapist.

CDI College is now accepting applications for the Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma program at our Scarborough campus. To learn how you can get started, fill in the Request Info form to your right.
