Honoring Truth, Reconciliation, and Community at CDI College - National Truth and Reconciliation Day 2023
September 30 holds profound significance in Canada, marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is a powerful reminder of the painful history of Indigenous peoples in Canada and the urgent need for truth, reconciliation, and healing.
Empowering Indigenous Students:
As we commemorate National Truth and Reconciliation Day, we must reflect on its significance and the steps we can take to contribute to this vital journey. CDI College is proud to continue its commitment to Indigenous education and reconciliation this year.
One significant initiative that embodies our dedication is our partnership with the national Indigenous charity, Indspire. CDI College has pledged half a million dollars worth of funding and awards to Indigenous students over four years, with the federal government matching this contribution to $1 million in funding.
Our partnership with Indspire aligns with our shared goal of closing the educational gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.
In addition to our partnership with Indspire, CDI College actively observes Orange Shirt Day. This event is dedicated to raising funds and awareness about the enduring impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities and culture.
As we mark National Truth and Reconciliation Day, we are committed to being part of the solution, standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities, and actively contributing to a future built on unity, understanding, and healing. We can empower Indigenous students and work towards a more inclusive and equitable Canada.
