CDI College’s new Denturist program offers an exciting career for those interested in providing direct patient care in oral health services
Surrey, BC – January 15, 2015 – CDI College campus in Surrey is introducing a brand new Denturist program with classes starting this spring. The program covers everything you need to begin a career in this fascinating field.
Denturists are denture specialists who specialize in the manufacturing of denture prosthetics. They examine patients and design, construct and repair removal dentures. Denturists also provide effective communication with patients regarding treatment options and care. They usually work in partnership with other health professionals to deliver comprehensive treatment. Denturists are independent practitioners and many of them work in private practice.
CDI College is one of only five training programs in Canada recognized by the College of Denturists of British Columbia. Our 80-week program is designed to provide students with the theoretical, technical and clinical experiences required to assess, diagnose, design, fabricate and insert both complete and partial removable dentures. Students will learn communication skills, anatomy, oral pathology, laboratory procedures, denture design and practice management. In addition to the more traditional lecture and laboratory settings, students also gain clinical experience in the onsite clinic. After completing the program, graduates are eligible to sit the College of Denturists Licensing Examination.
Demographics and changing patterns of oral disease mean that the provision of healthcare will change in the future in order to meet anticipated needs and demands. An aging population means that a growing number of people are using and replacing dentures and other such devices more often.
As an oral health professional, the Denturist must demonstrate strong communication skills to provide optimum patient care. It is the perfect profession for those who possess manual dexterity, imagination, creativity, attention to detail and a desire to work with others.
