CDI College Introduces Upgraded Pharmacy Technician Program in Burnaby

CDI College recently introduced the upgraded Pharmacy Technician program at the CDI College Burnaby campus. The new curriculum will prepare those who want to play a crucial role within the pharmacy industry in British Columbia.

The role of pharmacy technician has changed dramatically in the past decade and properly trained professionals continue to be in demand in BC and Canada. CDI College’s Pharmacy Technician program ensures those entering the field are prepared for the wide range of tasks they will be required to take on.

As such, pharmacy technicians need to have the fundamental knowledge and practical training to succeed on the job. The 41-week diploma program includes an intensive curriculum of academic studies and clinical practicum. Students learn the fundamentals of pharmacology, drug delivery systems and drug-body interactions from industry-experienced instructors. The laboratory sessions offer hands-on opportunities to practice compounding, dispensing and pharmaceutical calculations. Students will also have a chance to develop strong customer service skills through face-to-face training and practicum. The mandatory 300 practicum hours will help them develop real-world workplace skills like communication and knowledge of pharmaceutical software.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are able to write the registration exams with the College of Pharmacists of BC.
