Program will prepare grads to respond to expected growth in digital media field

Toronto, ON – November 14, 2012 – CDI College is launching a Graphic Design program at its campus in Toronto. The new program will prepare graduates for the growth within the digital media field over the next several years.

“Graphic design has an enormous impact on culture,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, CDI College VP of Marketing. “Businesses will always need knowledgeable and dedicated graphic designers to help them reach their audience. The Graphic Design program will equip grads with the skills they need to enter the digital media industry.”

Fifty years ago, graphic designers honed their craft on paper. Today’s designers use a variety of technology and computer software to produce visual solutions for their clients. Students in the Graphic Design program learn essential concepts including colour theory, typography and drawing. They also become technically proficient with the standard design software used in the field, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Students will also explore electronic design, web design and dynamic media and master the common software used in web design, such as Dreamweaver, Flash and ActionScript. Packaging design, corporate design and advertising design are also covered.

Graduates emerge from the program with a professional portfolio that showcases their talent and skills in both print and new media design. They can apply for a range of positions including graphic artist, illustrator, layout designer, medical illustrator, advertising designer and more.
