Things to do in Scarborough
Scarborough is located east of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), but is considered part of the City of Toronto. The area is home to many great attractions and things to do in both the summer and winter.
Arts and Culture
Theatre Scarborough is the best place to catch the city’s most recent plays and musicals. The playhouse has hosted many different plays, from murder mysteries to dramas, and offers student priced tickets throughout the year.
The Scarborough Museum is located in Thomson Memorial Park. The museum showcases the history and culture of Scarborough and provides great insight into how the city was developed. It is open year-round for a small admission fee or students can visit on “pay-what-you-can” weekends.
Attractions
The most popular attraction in Scarborough is the Toronto Zoo. Home to over 5,000 species, the zoo is the perfect place to learn about animals and the environment as well as enjoy entertainment for the whole family. The zoo also has over nine kilometers of walking trails, so you can get out and enjoy nature.
Parks
Scarborough has many areas for students to enjoy green spaces including numerous community parks and recreation areas.
The Scarborough Bluffs, which run for 14 kilometers along Lake Ontario, provide residents and visitors with amazing scenic views of cliffs and water. You can enjoy the bluffs by taking a walk or hike through the adjoining park during summer and wintertime or take a boat ride along the lake.
