Patience and a Sense of Humor Are Good Traits for the IT Sector

Computer Support Technicians spend a great deal of time answering customers' questions, concerns and complaints while maintaining a calm attitude the whole time. Even though the majority of inquiries are computer and tech related, these pros may have to deal with peculiar - and sometimes hilarious - questions.

The Globe and Mail recently highlighted the results of a survey of 1,600 chief information officers at companies across Canada and the United States to find the strangest questions that their tech-support staff received.

Some queries were related to the field, although rather basic, such as "How do I start the internet?" and "Will you show me how to use the mouse?" Other concerns were just downright comical. Some support techs were asked to answer "How do I clean cat hair out of my computer fan?" and "Can I turn on the coffee pot with my computer?"

Ultimately, the survey results demonstrated that tech-support workers must possess a great deal of composure and patience to get their jobs done, as well as a sense of humor for when dealing with eccentric individuals.
