VANCOUVER, BC – March 1, 2019 – Faculty, staff, and students at CDI College’s campuses across Canada joined together this past Wednesday, February 27th, to take a stand against bullying, raising $4,000 for the CKNW Kids Fund and Fondation Jasmin Roy.

Similar to 2018, there was a renewed focus on online bullying, with extra emphasis placed on connected devices and how kids can face torrents of bullying and harassment from classmates on social media. 

This year, the Pink Shirt Day campaign is encouraging youth to THINK – asking themselves if something is True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, or Kind – before speaking negatively.

“Ending bullying is something we know is worth our time and effort,” said Andre Souza, Vice President of Operations at CDI College. “Once again, our students and staff were generous with their time and money to donate to two organizations who do so much to help youth.

Throughout the month of February, CDI College campuses sold pink shirts for a donation of $5, with all proceeds going to the CKNW Kids Fund and Fondation Jasmin Roy – with some campuses raising additional money through bake sales and raffles.

Pink Shirt Day traces its origins back to 2007, when two students in a Nova Scotia school witnessed a male classmate facing harassment for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. To show solidarity with their new friend, they handed out pink shirts to their friends and wore them the next day.
