Property and Casualty Insurance - LCA.BF

Casualty insurance protects people from financial loss in the face of lost or damaged property. This program provides you with a relevant and current education on insurance for property and vehicles. Students will also learn the legal aspects of damage insurance and processing claims.

CDI College's Property and Casualty Insurance - LCA.BF program will train you on the policies, procedures, and technology necessary to operate in insurance jobs. It also focuses on key business skills such as customer service. Graduates of this program will be prepared to write the three exams of the Autorité des marcées financiers (AMF) in damage insurance: Automobile, Household and Legislation.

Certification
This training enables students to stand for three exams of the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) in damage insurance or individuals in the fields of automotive, housing and law.

Prerequisites
  • Secondary V diploma
  • Successful admission test


Conditions for admission to an Attestation of College Studies (ACS)

In addition to meeting the college's requirements, applicants must satisfy one of the following conditions:

  • the candidate interrupted his or her studies for at least two consecutive semesters or one school year;
  • the candidate is covered by an agreement concluded between the college and an employer or by a government program;
  • the candidate has completed at least one year of post-secondary studies spread out over a period of one or more years.


Graduation 

To graduate, students must obtain the required pass mark in each course.


This vocational program leads to an ACS (Attestation of College Studies) recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement Supérieur (MEES) (Permit 749747).

410-PIN-ID - Integration Project
Subjects – Revision and practice of the concepts covered during the program and preparation for the Certification exams: household insurance, automobile insurance, and legal concepts and legislation in damage insurance.
410-TAR-ID - Pricing and Risk Analysis
Subjects – Insurance pricing as per client’s needs. Setting values for insurable goods. Pricing, tarification, premium calculation, reduction and additional premium. Risk analysis.
410-SCP-ID - Customer Service
Subjects – Client’s needs evaluation in terms of automobile insurance and household insurance. Presentation of relevant information from insurance policy to the customers. Choice of products for customer’s needs. Eligibility conditions and subscription. Modification requests, renewal and follow-up with customers.
410-PVM-ID - Promotion, Sales and Marketing
Subject : Market Strategies for promoting, advertising and public relations. Process of buying and selling. Product presentation, negotiation and closing the sale. Customer service.
410-RSP-ID - Claims Adjustment
Subjects – Claims in automobile insurance and in household insurance. Agent and insurance broker’s obligations and responsibilities. Claims categories and civil responsibilities. Steps in damage estimation. Settlements. Arbitration, mediation fraud to the insurance company. Natural disasters.
410-DAD-ID - Legal Concepts and Legislation in Casualty Insurance
Subjects – Quebec Civil Code. Nature and scope of a contract. Insurance contract and related rules. Regulation and legislation in casualty insurance for individuals and claims adjustments. Legal concepts pertaining to accident and household insurances. Private insurance in Quebec. Code of ethics, rights and obligations for representatives.
410-ASH-ID - Household Insurance
Subjects – History, evolution and functioning of household insurance. Major products in household insurance. Legal aspects and special conditions in household insurance. Guarantees, exclusions and clauses for different types of household insurance designed for owner occupant, lodgers, co-lodgers, non owners, lessors. Rules and practices in household insurance. Pricing.
410-ASA-ID - Automobile Insurance
Subjects – History, evolution and functioning of automobile insurance. Automobile insurance outside of Quebec and in the province of Quebec. Elements of automobile insurance contracts. Guarantees, exclusions and clauses for vehicle owners, drivers, garage, non-owners and car renters. Rules and practices in automobile insurance. Automobile insurance proposal and subscription.
410-GBD-ID - Database Management Systems
Subjects – Creation of a database and tables. Data entry, data modification and data deletion. Request creation using one condition. Selection and creation of screen formats.
410-CEL-ID - Spreadsheet
Subjects – Default parameters. Editing commands, special effects, cells formating, graphic creation.
410-RCR-ID - Preparation of Reports and Correspondence
Subjects – Preparation of reports. Structure of a report. Key elements of a report. Reports for different situations.
410-TDT-ID - Word Processing
Subjects – Word basic features. Creation of documents such as letters, memos, forms and reports. Format, headers and footers, font, table of contents. Spelling correction.
410-NF1-ID - Introduction to Computers
Subjects – Windows™ operating system, file management and desktop customizing. Creating documents with Word™, Microsoft Excel™ and Microsoft PowerPoint™. Using Internet for communication and research. Antivirus programs.
410-AFT-ID - The Profession and the Training Process
Subjects – History of the insurance industry. Methods of practice. Different organizations: Bureau des services financiers, Chambre de l’assurance de dommages. Role of the representative and code of ethics in insurance for individuals.
