CDI College joined people across Canada and around the world as they stood up against bullying on Pink Shirt Day 2020.

Students, instructors, and staff from CDI College wore pink and raised nearly $5,000 for the CKNW Kids’ Fund and Fondation Jasmin Roy.

"It's time for bullying to come to an end and we're proud to once again do our part by participating in Pink Shirt Day,” said Rodney D'Souza, Campus Director, CDI College Mississauga. “Everyone at our campuses should be commended for generating such strong support for causes that bring more kindness and compassion into our society.”

Held on February 26, Pink Shirt Day aims to spread the message that there should be no tolerance for bullying.

Organizers say its origin goes back to 2007 when a young student in Nova Scotia was harassed for wearing pink. In response, a group of high school friends protested the bullying by giving out pink shirts to their classmates. Since then, the cause has helped to raise more than $2.3 million for anti-bullying programs.

This year’s Pink Shirt Day theme was “Lift each other up,” emphasizing the need to unite with others and celebrate what we have in common.

Throughout February, CDI College campuses in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec sold pink T-shirts to raise donations for this important cause. All funds will go to the CKNW Kids’ Fund and Fondation Jasmin Roy, which support programs for young people that teach kindness and discourage bullying.
