A new smartphone app enables Canadians to search for locations where they can find help for addictions and substance issues. The program, launched by Drug Rehab Services Canada, hopes to help more citizens take advantage of available addiction resources in their area.
Thousands of Canadians deal with addictions issues each year. Treatment centres such as hospitals, private detox facilities and counseling services are all helpful places to turn for aid, but finding these groups is the first step.
Addiction Directory App
The application allows users to text or call an organisation in an effort to reach out for help. There are also directory listings for Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings, along with locations for detox centres and other types of treatment centres. Location services take the user's current location and provide a map of nearby facilities where they can seek treatment.
As the first app of its kind, the free program will act as a tool for individuals struggling to begin their rehabilitation or fight their addiction.Choosing the right facility is necessary for a successful treatment, but it is just the beginning portion of a long journey to recovery.
The Next Step
After locating a facility, the next step for troubled individuals is to begin their treatment. In order for this to occur, however, addicts need to have a support system in place. These services will help put them on the path to sober living, providing the support to those who need it most.
