Toronto, ON – December 11, 2013 – CDI College, known for its market-driven education, is now accepting applications for its new Law Clerk program at campuses in Hamilton, Mississauga, North York, Scarborough and Toronto. To meet the growing need for legal services, firms of all sizes and specialties are seeking well-trained, knowledgeable law clerks to join their team. CDI College’s Law Clerk program prepares students with an interest in law and justice for a career in this fast-paced field in just 56 weeks.
The role of a law clerk can mean different things, depending on where the clerk is employed. For example, a law clerk at a law firm performs legal research and writing for firm lawyers, while a trial court law clerk is more involved with the litigation process. With training from CDI College, graduates are positioned for success in a variety of legal settings, such as law firms, banks, corporations, non-profit organizations, and local, federal and provincial judiciary.
Whatever the setting, law clerks wear many hats – gatekeeper, scheduler, and administrator – and their contributions help keep the legal process moving smoothly. Students with a love of research and writing learn how to turn those into marketable skills by studying the fundamentals; accounting and bookkeeping, research, writing and communication, and the workings of the Canadian government and court system.
A working knowledge of legal specialties is also critical to success, and the key to unlocking a variety of career opportunities. Students will secure this knowledge and its application by working closely with legal experts in their fields, including employment law, intellectual property, criminal law, real estate law, family law, wills and estates and corporate law. Students will also gain first-hand experience integrating their academic knowledge and skills as part of a five-week internship.
Applications are now being accepted for the Law Clerk program in Hamilton, Mississauga, North York, Scarborough and Toronto. For more information, call 1.877.404.4353 or fill out the form to the right.
