Ontario Expects Surge in IT Industry

May 8, 2012 | Ontario

Waterloo, Ontario, may be the next hot region for Canada's Information Technology sector. According to the Waterloo Region Record, the growth can partially be attributed to a local tech association Communitech, whose new Hyperdrive program that will provide up to $700,000 in funding for individual tech startups.

The association aims to provide marketing, financing, technical and legal support at incubators based in downtown Kitchener and the Accelerator Centre in Waterloo. Expected to raise their own funding from angel investors, startups will pay rent as well as attract venture capitalists and customers interested in purchasing their product or service.

The new development could lead to an increase in the number of IT job opportunities. Young companies may seek recent college graduates to join their teams and help them grow.

Those looking for IT training can earn a diploma at CDI College. For more information about the Network Systems Engineer program and other technology training programs, fill out the form on the right.
