Edmonton, Alberta – June 2, 2011 – With so many types of health and wellness related career options, why not choose massage therapy? Alternative medicine has long been regarded as a form of “complementary” therapy, disassociated with conventional medical care; however, over the last decade, more and more people have been turning to massage therapy to help with aches, pains, sports injuries, anxiety, headaches and other medical conditions.

CDI College’s Edmonton North Campus offers an intensive 44 week Massage Therapy diploma. The program combines studies in medical topics such as physiology, pharmacology, anatomy, and pathology with massage courses in hydrotherapy, palpation and remedial exercise. Students are able to apply their knowledge and skills to in clinical internships, which provide them with hands-on experience in client care.

Upon graduation students can become certified with the Alberta Association of Massage Therapists and Holistic Practitioners. Massage therapy clinics, health centers, spas, chiropractic offices, and hospitals all require licensed massage practitioners who have passed a provincial entry to practice examination. In addition, you can also start your own practice by establishing a massage therapy business or work as a contractor for a holistic medicine clinic. As more and more health insurance companies are allowing people to claim massage therapy, becoming a member of massage therapy associations and receiving your license ensures that your services are professionally qualified.

CDI College’s Edmonton North campus is now accepting applications to the Massage Therapy program’s summer session. For more information about the program, fill out the form on your right.
