Public massage clinics to help raise funds for new provincial homeless ID program

Edmonton, AB - October 20, 2010 - Students and staff in the Massage Therapy programs at CDI College campuses in Calgary and Edmonton are set to help some of Alberta's 8,500 homeless citizens afford provincial identification cards.

Students at the Edmonton North and Calgary North campuses are inviting the public to attend their massage clinics between October 20 and mid-November, 2010. All funds raised from the cost of the hour-long massage sessions will be donated to local agencies to help homeless people pay the $12.30 charge for an ID card.

Student-staffed massage clinics at the Edmonton North campus run Monday to Friday from 4:30-8:00pm. The cost is $10.00 per session. Clients must reserve an appointment in advance by calling 780-478-7900.

In Calgary, massage clinics are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00-8:30pm at the Calgary North campus. Each hour-long session will cost $20.00. Clients must book appointments in advance by calling 403-571-8585.

While clients will receive an affordable therapeutic massage, the funds generated by the Massage for a Cause campaign will go toward helping the homeless obtain provincial IDs that will enable them to open bank accounts, access housing, vote and more.

Anyone wishing to contribute to Massage for a Cause without attending the clinics can make a donation via PayPal. For more information of the Massage Therapy and Advanced Massage Therapy programs, fill out the form to your left.
