CDI College’s Burnaby Campus Offers Pharmacy Technician Program

Burnaby, BC – January 14, 2015 – CDI College’s Burnaby campus is now accepting applications for the 40-week Pharmacy Technician diploma program. The new curriculum will prepare those who want to play a valuable role within the pharmacy industry in British Columbia.

Pharmacy technicians need to have the fundamental knowledge and practical training to succeed on the job. The 40-week diploma program includes an intensive curriculum consisting of a combination of classroom lectures as well as clinical placements. Students will learn the fundamentals of pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, drug administration routes, drug side effects and more from industry-experienced instructors. In addition, they will become familiarized with pharmacy laws and regulations as well.

Aside from in-class learning, students will be trained in the campus’s lab to practice compounding, dispensing, and pharmaceutical calculations. Students will also have a chance to develop strong customer service skills through real-world training in their practicum, which consists of 300 hours. This clinical placement will help them develop real-world workplace skills such as communication and knowledge of pharmaceutical software.

This career training provides graduates with exciting options to work in various departments and locations. Graduates can find careers in community and hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and clinical research.

CDI College’s Pharmacy Technician program ensures those entering the field are prepared for the wide range of tasks they will be required to take on.
