Early childhood educators can enhance credentials in 19 weeks

Richmond, BC – March 12, 2013 – CDI College is now offering the Montessori Teaching program at its campus in Richmond. The new program allows students to build on their existing early childhood education training and expand career opportunities in the ECE field in just 19 weeks.

“The Montessori Teaching program is a great stepping stone for ECE professionals looking to broaden their practice,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College. “Students will develop a deeper understanding of how children in their care learn. They’ll also be opening new doors to employment in the field.”

Developed by Italian educator and physician Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 20th century, the Montessori Method is used all over the world in daycare centres, preschools, Montessori schools, family services centres and other education facilities. The method gives children the opportunity to grow and thrive by focusing on five major areas of learning: sensorial, cultural, language, math and practical life.

The Montessori Teaching program at CDI College covers the history and educational philosophy behind Dr. Montessori’s method. Through hands-on learning opportunities, students explore the major teaching areas and learn to apply them in an early childhood education classroom. A practicum placement provides students with a supervised learning experience, applying theory and practice in a Montessori environment.

CDI College is now accepting applications for the Montessori Teaching program in Richmond. Students must possess an ECE certificate or diploma before enrolling. For more information, call 1.877.404.4353 or fill out the form on the right.
