Program prepares grads for growing tourism and hospitality industry in 42 weeks
Calgary, AB – November 30, 2012 – The demand for jobs in Alberta’s tourism and hospitality sector will increase greatly over the next decade and employers will favour those with relevant post-secondary training. With the new Hospitality Business Management program at CDI College, students can gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this growing industry.
“The tourism and hospitality industry is the third-largest industry in Alberta and it is expected to keep growing,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College. “The Hospitality Business Management program will give students the comprehensive education they need to begin their careers in this diverse and dynamic industry in the province or around the world.”
In just 42 weeks, students learn the skills and gain the hands-on experience they need for a successful career in hospitality. They develop a broad range of skills from fundamental computer applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint to specialized knowledge of front office management, food and beverage services and hospitality computer systems. They also learn about sales and marketing, housekeeping management and human resources for the hospitality industry.
The program also includes a 100-hour practicum, giving students on-the-job experience that will best prepare them for their new hospitality careers. As graduates, they’ll be suited to work in a variety of sectors of the hospitality industry including adventure tourism, recreation, tourism services, accommodations, transportation attractions, food and beverage services, events, conferences and more.
