CDI College Winter Grad 2011 in BC

Surrey and Abbotsford graduates celebrated at convocation ceremonies.
Surrey, BC – December 5, 2011 – Family and friends joined faculty, staff and students to congratulate and honour graduates from the Surrey and Abbotsford campuses at two separate convocation ceremonies held this past weekend.

The weekend celebrations kicked off on Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Pacific Academy Auditorium with the Surrey campus graduation. Todd Lush, VP of Admissions for CDI College, delivered an enthusiastic and entertaining message, congratulating grads on having the courage to launch new careers and following through to graduation. Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts sent along a message applauding the Class of 2011 on their achievements and encouraged them to continue to make a difference in the community. Honoured guest speaker Teena Love of Amenida Senior’s Community shared words of wisdom about what makes a career successful and meaningful.

Valedictorian Criselda Navalta, a graduate of the Dental Assisting program, shared her story with her fellow graduates and thanked the campus faculty and staff on behalf of all the graduates for the unwavering support they provided throughout the year. Fellow Dental Assisting graduates Elyse Brown and Jinkyoung Lee both received Clinician of the Year awards from Patterson Dental.

The celebration continued at the Abbotsford campus graduation ceremonies at the Abbotsford Art Centre on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Following the processional, Ian MacDonald, Public Information Officer for the Abbotsford Police Department, delivered the honoured guest address, where he encouraged grads to embrace their futures with passion.

“If your passion goes beyond the boundaries of your career,” he added, “then you are truly fortunate.”

In her valedictory address, Addictions and Community Services Worker graduate, Dawn Gooch, spoke about learning to embrace change over the course of her education and encouraged her fellow classmates to adopt a similar attitude as they move forward in their careers and lives.

Upon receipt of their diplomas, candidates from a range of programs, including Event Coordinator and Management, Business Administration, Legal Administrative Assistant, Travel and Tourism and Information Technology, congregated on stage to celebrate the conclusion of a year’s worth of hard work and dedication.
