Healthcare workshops on death, dying and Personal Support Workers to be held in Mississauga and Ajax
Mississauga, ON – October 17, 2013 – As frontline workers, Personal Support Workers (PSWs) play a crucial role in the lives of people living in long-term care facilities, including those nearing the end of life. As part of its healthcare education series, CDI College welcomes author and hospice palliative care educator Kath Murray for a series of workshops for healthcare workers on death and dying.
A registered nurse, Murray is dedicated to providing exceptional end-of life care, drawing on more than 25 years of experience in hospice palliative care. She also has 15 years of experience teaching palliative care strategies and is committed to helping caregivers strengthen their abilities. Murray will lead two workshops as part of CDI College’s healthcare education series. The first workshop takes place on Friday, October 18, 2013 in Mississauga. A second workshop will be held in Ajax on October 25, 2013. Both events run from 10:00am-1:00pm.
During her workshops at CDI College, Murray will lead spirited and informative discussions about death and dying and their implications for PSWs working in long-term care. She will also touch on some key strategies for caring for people at the end of life. The sessions are open to current healthcare professionals, CDI College students, staff, faculty and anyone interested in working in a caregiving career. Refreshments will be served after the workshop, with opportunities to chat with Murray in person and network with other healthcare professionals.
