January 9, 2012 | British Columbia

As social networking website Facebook continues to grow in popularity around the world, the company is once again creating jobs to match the pace of its expansion, according to The Toronto Star. Students enrolled in computer networking training at CDI College may be encouraged by the news, as it highlights the continued growth of the employment market in the technology sector.

The Star reports that there are currently around 270 vacancies at the company in a variety of locations, including Facebook's Toronto office.

Facebook is looking for engineering, networking and programming staff, according to The Star. Candidates must pass a programming test before being contacted for a telephone interview. Students enrolled in networking and programming training at CDI College may find that the skills they learn on campus could be suited to positions similar to those now open at Facebook.

It is not just the American technology industry that is experiencing growth. The Canadian IT sector is also expanding. Tabitha Creighton, Vice President for Services at Vancouver-based Knowledgetech Consulting, told Straight.com that technology is now perceived as a desirable and innovative occupation, thanks to the prevalence of technology in today's society.
