VANCOUVER, BC – March 7, 2018 – Staff and students at CDI College campuses across Canada joined together to participate in Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 raising more than $4,000 for anti-bullying programs run by the CKNW Orphans’ Fund and Foundation Jasmin Roy.

This year’s event had a stronger focus on cyberbullying, something that has affected children and adults alike.

“Putting a stop to bullying, both online and offline, is something we can all agree is worth our time and effort,” said Andre Souza, Vice President of Operations at CDI College. “Our students and staff have once again gone above and beyond with their generosity.”

Since 2007, Pink Shirt Day has been a cultural touchstone for anti-bullying campaigns after two students in Nova Scotia witnessed another male student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. As a show of solidarity, they handed out pink shirts to their classmates.

“We are very big on supporting our community and this cause is no different,” said Renata Maione, Campus Director at CDI College Edmonton North, which raised the most money of all campuses. “We have staff and students who have been affected by bulling or have had a loved one suffer. We are a proud campus - our school culture always gives 100 percent in any fundraiser we are a part of.”

CDI College is proud to support Pink Shirt Day and we managed to top our 2017 fundraising totals and look forward to doing the same in 2019.
