Campus receives Top Individual Fundraiser Award from Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Winnipeg, MB – October 10, 2012 – CDI College in Winnipeg took home the Top Individual Fundraiser Award for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s Post-Secondary Challenge in the city. The team raised $3,733 for the CIBC Run for the Cure on September 30, 2012.

The Post-Secondary Challenge is a national program open to all universities and colleges across Canada. The program encourages participating institutions to enter teams and challenge others to raise money in support of breast cancer research. For the third consecutive year, a team of staff and students from the Winnipeg campus ran to help the foundation realize its vision of creating a future without breast cancer.

“Congratulations to the staff and students at CDI College in Winnipeg,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing. “Their commitment and drive to participate in events like Run for the Cure embodies CDI College’s belief in offering our support to the community in any way we can.”

In addition to the CIBC Run for the Cure, staff and students have organized the Bras for a Cause initiative in Winnipeg for the last four years. The event is an annual awareness campaign in which thousands of donated bras are collected, strung up and flown for blocks near the campus on Main Street. This past year, they reached out to CDI College campuses across the country for donations and were overwhelmed by the response.
