Addictions and Community Services Worker

Diploma 50 weeks

The Addictions and Community Services Worker diploma program comprises on-campus lectures and labs, field trips, and industry-related projects. There is also a work experience component that provides students with theory, hands-on experience, and applied learning opportunities.

The program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in community social services with particular attention to the specific needs of people affected by addiction.

The program includes courses in the fundamentals related to addictions and community services, building relationships, life management, and finally, professional and workplace skills. 

After graduating, students can apply to take the certification examination offered by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF). CACCF is the Canadian Certification Board for Alcohol and Drug Counsellors and offers an internationally recognized and respected certification. 

This program has been approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.
