IT Professionals to Earn More As Number of Qualified Workers Decreases

Vancouver, BC - March 3, 2010 - Despite the effects of the recession on job creation, the Robert Half Technology Salary Guide predicts that the average IT worker will see about a 3.7% increase in salary over 2009.  According to that same report, some technology positions will even see an increase of six to eight percent in pay!

Technology Professionals Earning More Money
Since 2000, fewer people have enrolled in IT programs at the post-secondary level. Because of this, there are simply fewer applicants, and in turn, an increased demand for well-trained technology professionals. The IT industry is increasingly viewed as an important creator of innovative and profitable businesses that can compete in today's global economy. All of these factors combined has driven the salaries in IT up.

Future Expansion in the IT Industry 
According to an Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) study, the following IT areas will create the most job demand in the near future:

• Security
• Remote Hosting and Virtualization
• Wireless Technologies
• Cloud Computing
