Vancouver, BC - April 18, 2011 – Market demand for health care workers has led to the upcoming launch of the new Community Health Care Worker Program at three CDI College locations in BC – Vancouver, Surrey and Richmond.

Health care workers are always in demand, playing crucial roles within a variety of health-related settings. The Community Health Care Worker Program at CDI College provides students with a comprehensive education that prepares them to work with a variety of clients and health care settings. Students of the program learn the fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and development across the lifespan, as well as interpersonal and behaviour management skills that are crucial for effectively working with clients.

Graduates of the Community Health Care Worker program earn two diplomas and 10 certificates that open the door to numerous job opportunities. Students graduate well-prepared to provide support for people living with physical and mental disabilities in group homes, long-term care settings and residential care facilities. The program also provides training on how to assist clients living with developmental disabilities, mental illness and behavioural issues.

With well-trained health care workers in demand, graduates of the program are ready to hit the ground running with three practicum placements iin intermediate, extended and adolescent care. Students gainhands-on experience in a real job setting, leaving them well-trained for a wide variety of healthcare related roles that include Long-Term Care Aide, Home Health Care Worker, Nursing Aide, Classroom Attendant for Special Needs Children, Mental Health Worker and more.
