CDI Introduces Art and Design Programs!
Do you have a passion for art and design? CDI College has two programs to hone your creativity and prepare you for a fulfilling artistic career. The newly introduced Graphic Design and 3D Modeling Animation diploma programs both focus on developing a new generation of talented artists and designers to feed this growing industry. Just like CDI College's other career training programs, the curriculum for these programs is created with input from leading professionals in the art and design field.
New this fall, CDI College's Winnipeg campus has introduced a Graphic Design diploma program that will teach students the technical and creative skills they need to thrive in this growing industry. Over the course of the program, students learn about typography, colour theory, standard graphic design software, drawing, and more.
They also build a strong portfolio of their work in order to market themselves to potential employers after graduation. Graduates of the program will have the skills and training to thrive in design jobs at magazines, publishers, newspapers, design firms and more.
Available at the Montreal and Pointe-Claire campuses, the 3D Modeling Animation Art & Design program teaches students the artistic and technical skills they need to enter the growing 3D and CGI animation industry. The program is a perfect choice for students with a passion for both art and technology.
Students in the 3D Modeling Animation progam learn about life drawing, standard software, story boarding, character design, sculpture, lighting and texture, and more. By the time they graduate, students will be prepared to work as skilled animators for TV, film, video games, presentations and more.
Whether your interests lie in page layout, packaging, character modeling or animation, CDI College's growing art and design department has something to offer you.

Career Training Helps Pay Off Student Loan Debt
There's no reason to let the cost of heading back to school overwhelm you. Use these tips to pay off your student loan debt before it has a chance to accumulate.
- Make paying off student loans a monthly priority. Every time you receive a paycheck, apply a portion of it to the principal balance. Try paying more than the minimum amount.
- Keep your living expenses as low as possible until you have paid the balance. Living beyond your means will only add more debt, leaving you with more anxiety.
- Sell old textbooks on Amazon.com, BN.com or to your new college classmates.
- Offer tutoring sessions to other students in the class while in school. Any extra money can help you stay on track with your monthly budget.
- It's time to get creative and brainstorm alternative ways to make extra money. Use the skills you developed in training to make money to pay down your student loan. If you studied business, look for ways to supplement your income. If you enjoy graphic design or animation work, look for freelance or part-time design work. Working a couple extra hours per week will pay off in the long term.
Pointe-Claire Campus Off to a Great Start
While some of us spent the summer months on vacation, the first students at the Pointe-Claire campus began their journey toward new careers. And, judging from the feedback we're seeing on the Facebook page, both students and staff are excited and committed to making the campus a vibrant and friendly place to learn.
"I'm loving the course!" wrote one student on CDI's Facebook fan page. "We have a great teacher, who I think is very talented and has a lot to offer us! This new Pointe-Claire campus is everything I expected and more!"
The campus hosted its first open house on August 19, 2010. The event was well attended by students, staff and the general public as well as visiting staff and faculty from the Montreal and Laval campuses.
The campus is currently accepting applications for Financial Management, Programmer Analyst and 3D Modeling and Animation Art and Design. For more information about the business and technology programs at the campus, head to http://www.cdicollege.ca/Quebec/Pointe-Claire/Campus.

Top Trends in Canadian Healthcare
Students enrolled in healthcare programs will soon be taking part in the emerging trends in the healthcare industry and will play an important role in guiding patients through these developments.
Medical Records
Greater access to information is one of the key trends in the healthcare industry today, which includes improved recordkeeping and faster retrieval of patient records by accessing them online.
Healthcare Technologies
Another trend is the development of remote patient monitoring and remote wireless communications. This development has been driven by the rising numbers of citizens who are nearing their senior years. Those who are 60+ are living longer and requiring more home-based care including monitoring, diagnosis and treatment.
Individual Healthcare
Finally, healthcare professionals are already turning to more individualized treatment with customized diagnosis which allows for more personalized care. For example, customized diets to reduce the risks of heart disease may be prescribed alongside drugs tailored to a patient's specific genetic makeup.
