Canadian spring festivals keep the country's tourism industry booming

Vancouver, BC - April 1, 2010 - Canada has been dubbed the small festival capital of the world, and spring is the time of year when global travellers interested in something other than a warm winter holiday can find a wide range of sensory experiences ranging from sampling wine, tasting maple syrup and viewing millions of tulips.

Trip Planner - Sweet Treats

March and April mean maple syrup in central Canada. Ontario and Quebec are home to dozens of maple syrup celebrations. Tour snow-covered maple forests known as the "sugar bush" on wagons pulled by Percheron horses. Experience toe-tapping fiddle contests and taste taffy-on-snow (a variation on caramel coated vanilla ice cream).

Trip Planner - Winery Tours

For the first ten days in May, BC's Okanagan region offers a wine-lovers extravaganza. The Okanagan Wine Festival has the reputation as Canada's top small festival. It features no less than 100 culinary and wine-centered events and is a must for foodies and wine lovers alike.

Trip Planner - Tulip Festival

Watch the nation's capitol become awash in colour as over three million tulips adorn Ottawa for the Canadian Tulip Festival. This annual tradition from May 7-24, 2010 is the largest tulip festival in the world. As part of this floral fest, Ottawa sets up an international pavilion where 15 countries showcase their food, culture and entertainment.
