Massage Therapy Students Show Support for Edmonton Firefighters Burn Treatment Society

June 23, 2015 | Alberta

Edmonton, AB – June 23, 2015 – Last weekend, CDI College’s Massage Therapy students from the Edmonton North campus participated in the annual Edmonton River Valley Off-Road Triathlon & Dualthon to support the Edmonton Firefighters Burn Treatment Society (EFBTS), a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting burn survivors.

Since 1977, the EFBTS has held fundraisers to promote awareness for research, treatment, and the recovery of thermal injuries and to date, they have treated over 10,000 people in Western and Northern Canada combined.

To show support for the firefighters and volunteers who dedicate their time to such an amazing cause, CDI College’s Massage Therapy class gathered at the Edmonton River Valley Off-Road Triathlon & Dualthon at Revolution Cycle to provide massages, by donation, to competitors in the race. The dualthon – the triathlon without the swimming – included over 40km combined in several laps of intensive mountain biking and running through challenging terrains.

Each year, CDI College campuses across Canada strive to make a difference in their communities. Whether they are hosting community events or participating in national blood drives, our students and staff continuously prove that they can accomplish great things when they work together. At this year’s annual Edmonton River Valley Off-Road Triathlon & Dualthon, students raised $1,000, all of which was donated to the EFBTS.
