Marielle Clermont and Luca del Carlo are among the students at CDI College working on 500 Snowsuits, a campaign to help buy snowsuits for children in need

Scarborough, ON – October 16, 2014 – Cold weather is coming and Canadian winters, as we all know, can be particularly brutal. Inspired by the story of their own classmate who came to Canada with her two children and was shocked to discover how cold the country was and how ill-prepared she was to properly dress them for the cold times, the Business Administration class at CDI College’s Scarborough Campus, as part of their e-marketing module, decided to engage themselves in a real world project to help meet a very real need.

500 Snowsuits is a social media, crowd-sourcing campaign designed to raise awareness and $25,000 to provide needy children between the ages of 2 and 8 with quality snowsuits to keep them warm throughout the upcoming winter. It is the mission of 500 Snowsuits to engage community support to let underprivileged children be confident, warm and protected enough so they can learn, play and grow to become valued members of the community.

Through participation with the public school system, 500 Snowsuits identifies children in need and, at sponsored events, distributes these snowsuits free of charge.

Marielle Clermont and Luca del Carlo were on CBC 99.1 Radio Live on October 13th to promote their e-marketing project and web-based campaign. You can listen to the full interview here.
