CDI College Raising Funds for Young Edmonton Family

September 5, 2012 | Alberta

All proceeds from four-day fundraising effort to be donated to Zaidee Jensen’s family

Edmonton, AB – September 5, 2012 – After a tragic accident at an Edmonton LRT station took the life of a visually-impaired woman, CDI College in Edmonton South is responding with a week of fundraising to help support her grieving family.

For four days this week, staff and students will hold a number of on-campus events, with all proceeds going to the Jensen family.

Zaidee Jensen, a 29 year-old mother of two, slipped off the LRT platform while returning home from work on August 22, 2012 and succumbed to her injuries two days later in hospital. Zaidee leaves behind a husband, a five year old daughter and two year old son.

“CDI College is a strong supporter of the communities we live and work in,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College. “When someone in our community is in need, we want to help in any way we can.”

Starting September 4, 2012, CDI College will begin collecting cash donations for the Jensens at the reception desk, and each day throughout the week will see a new fundraising effort:
  • September 5: Hotdog Sale from 12:00 – 1:00pm. Open to staff and students.
  • September 6: Bake Sale from 10am until all baking is sold out. Open to the public.
  • September 7: Silent Auction from 12:00 – 1:00pm. Open to the public.

Four hundred hotdogs were generously donated by a CDI College student who currently manages a Dairy Queen, and all baked goods will be donated by staff and students. Local businesses have also chipped in prizes for the silent auction on Friday.
