Campus Director

Ongoing Full-Time, CDI Edmonton City Center
This position directs and oversees the operations of the campus, and is accountable for attaining all campus goals and objectives as set forth by leadership, and ensuring these are achieved in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and standards.

Reporting to the Regional Vice-President of Alberta, the Campus Director provides leadership in the areas of operations, admissions, academics, student services and administration. This position supports, manages and coordinates academic and administrative operations with internal and external stakeholders in the achievement of productivity and performance standards and ensures excellence in education and service. In doing so, the Campus Director will drive results to meet or exceed key metrics in the areas of student enrollment, student retention, graduate employment data and operating income. As a member of the management team, the Campus Director participates and contributes expertise to operational and strategic planning discussions and activities.  

The Campus Director will at various times be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the Company:

1. Admissions 
Meeting enrollment and retention goals within specified guidelines through:
  • Analyzing areas of growth, profit and opportunity for the organization and maintaining accountability for student population growth and market penetration.
  • Working with the Campus Support Marketing team to implement marketing plans, and develop and enhance brand awareness and campus community presence through activities such as open houses, student and alumni engagement, as well as the use of personal contacts, councils, boards and community organizations.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Admissions, ensure a proper and productive admissions processes. 
  • Authorizing new student enrolments and ensuring financial conditions are met. 

2. Student and Program Management
Contributing to and monitoring the quality of the student experience by:
  • Actively assessing, managing and enhancing academic quality through the classroom experience, interaction and delivery.
  • Coordinating and scheduling instructors, classrooms, class assignments and related supplies and equipment.
  • Responding appropriately to and resolving student concerns.
  • Overseeing and managing student retention and student / graduate success.
  • Overseeing and managing annual and term schedules, ensuring that courses are offered with sufficient frequency and academic program requirements can be fulfilled in reasonable time frames. 
  • Ensuring quality of instruction through periodic evaluations and audits on how effectively programs are meeting established objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external agencies and community services to ensure students have access to quality placements and services.

3. Financial Management 
Continuously monitoring and analyzing campus performance data to guarantee responsiveness to issues through:
  • Accountability for all facets of financial management and the overall financial results of the Campus.
  • Developing the operating budget and managing campus operations efficiently within the parameters of the approved budget.
  • Monitoring, on an on-going basis, actual performance against budget; monitoring financial and operational goals and taking corrective action when required. 
  • Reviewing financial statements, sales reports, student data reports and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement. This includes P&L statements, student population and withdrawal data, student starts data and student satisfaction and graduate employment data. Analyze data to determine areas needing improvement and develop effective strategies to improve operational performance and to ensure ongoing profitability.
  • Participating in scheduled discussions with the Chairman, the President & COO and other management staff regarding financial and operating performance.
  • Monitoring business trends in order to develop profit and growth strategies.
  • Approving purchase orders for day-to-day operational items.

4. Staff Responsibilities
Managing instructors and staff to ensures student success through:
  • Ensuring adequate staffing for administration and instructional purposes.
  • Managing staff decisions including recruitment, selection, termination, orientation, training and performance management.
  • Providing effective guidance and direction to staff by establishing priorities and objectives.
  • Maintaining quality, accuracy and quantity of work; developing work methods; planning and coordinating work.
  • Establishing regular staff meetings to ensure communication, feedback and maintenance of productive work processes.

5. Academics & Compliance
Ensuring academic and administrative operations are in compliance with applicable with regulatory bodies, government agencies, policies and procedures through:
  • Overseeing and monitoring submissions and responses to audits.
  • Overseeing program quality by collaborating with instructors and other staff to manage student and program data in order to drive student achievement. 
  • Providing input into curriculum design and development.
