Medical office administration offers career versatility in fast-paced health care sector
Calgary, AB - February 15, 2011 - Calgary residents interested in pursuing a career in health care now have a new training option in the city. CDI College is now accepting applications for its Medical Office Administration program in Calgary City Centre.
With courses that cover health and wellness, science and medicine, and general office administration, students have the opportunity to get hands-on, real world training in CDI's Medical Office Administration diploma program.
The program ultimately prepares students to work in any type of medical environment including hospitals, clinics, long-term health care facilities, and private doctor's offices. With courses available in medical office and clinical procedures, medical terminology and transcription, business communications, and computer software application fundamentals, students develop the skills necessary to succeed in this growing field. In addition to learning medical office fundamentals and general business administration, students are required to work in a real-world medical office during a mandatory practicum.
In this rapidly expanding field, medical office professionals must be able to communicate effectively as well as work in a fast paced environment. Additionally, MOAs need to be organized and have a keen eye for detail, enjoy working with people, and more importantly, must be able to work efficiently under pressure.
Upon completion of the program, graduates have the option of working in a number of career paths including medical office receptionist, admitting clerk, medical records clerk, medical office assistant, secretary or administrative manager. In any of these positions, medical office administrators may have to handle general administrative tasks such as filing, bookkeeping, and appointment setting all while ensuring the office runs smoothly.
