Dental Technician Program Now in Surrey
Surrey, BC – November 1, 2012 – CDI College is introducing the Dental Technician program at its campus in Surrey. The program will provide students with opportunities to gain an understanding of the dental technician practice and related research as well as computer-aided design and manufacturing of dental ceramics, implants, attachments and milling techniques.
“Dental technicians rely on both artistic and technical skills when hand-crafting various products for patients,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College. “With hands-on training in our state-of-the-art laboratory, students will emerge with the unique skills and knowledge they need to begin careers as dental technicians.”
Learning from experienced dental instructors, students gain an understanding of anatomy and physiology of the head, neck, oral cavity and facial complex. They learn about the design and construction of complete and partial dentures, the fabrication of fixed and removable orthodontic appliances, and building and casting of ceramic and metal crowns and bridges. They also explore the use of digital software, hardware and other techniques to produce finished dental restoration parts using a range of materials.
The 94-week program also gives students the opportunity to work in wet and dry labs, working with equipment and materials that are used in the field. They’ll have opportunities to gain practical experience prior to graduation in two practicum placements, as well.
Graduates of the program will be able to seek employment in a range of dental fields including dental laboratories, dental manufacturers, dental clinics, dental supply companies and more.
