Inspirational session aims to encourage students to make a difference in their communities

Mississauga, ON – February 18, 2013 – CDI College is honored to welcome renowned speaker, advocate and artist Judith Snow to its campus in Mississauga on February 28, 2013. A pioneer of education and training programs for more than 30 years, Snow strives to create a world in which everyone is included and contributes to their communities. Staff and students will undoubtedly leave the session inspired to step up and live empowered lives.

“Learning to contribute to the community is a huge part of the CDI College student experience,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing at CDI. “Graduates leave our campuses not only armed with the skill sets they need to excel on the job, but ready to make a difference in the community they live in. After hearing Judith Snow’s presentation, I have no doubt the students at the Mississauga campus will be motivated to make a positive difference in the community, on the job or at home.”

Among her accomplishments, Snow is credited with developing the first service to support students with disabilities in post-secondary education, inventing the support circle model to assist those with intellectual disabilities and piloting individual funding for personalized assistance. She has also led training programs throughout North America, the Caribbean and Europe, helping thousands of people with disabilities find jobs, homes and support systems.

In addition, Snow is the director of the Laser Eagles Art Guild, one of the only art organizations in the Greater Toronto Area that provides fully-inclusive environments for those labeled with a disability. Focusing on art and need for artistic expression, the programs offered by the Laser Eagles are designed to be fully sustainable and adaptable to every environment in order to generate greater awareness on inclusion.

The presentation takes place at CDI College in Mississauga on Thursday, February 28, 2013. The session runs from 1:00-2:30pm. Check-in time is 12:45pm sharp!
