CDI College in Victoria Helps You Fight the Flu with a Free Vaccination Clinic
Find out if you’re eligible for a free flu vaccine
Fall is a beautiful season to enjoy, with sunny days and ample time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. But it’s also a busy time to get through, with the holiday season around the corner and exams to get through. Even though you’re following all the good advice to boost your immune system, you can always use some extra help to stay healthy. Have you heard about the free flu vaccine clinics at CDI College in Victoria?
The Victoria campus of CDI College will host a two day flu vaccination clinic on November 2 & 3, 2011. Students and the general public are encouraged to head down to the auditorium between 9:30 to 11:30am. All healthcare students will automatically qualify for vaccination due to their involvement with patients during practicums and volunteer work. A flu shot is the most effective method for preventing flu infection and its serious complications. Currently, the Canadian Advisory Committee on Immunization encourages everyone aged two to 64 years old to receive an annual influenza vaccination. People working in the healthcare field, as well as those working with young children or elderly, are considered a high priority for the flu vaccine.
Influenza vaccination has been shown to be highly effective on people working these fields, with minimal side effects and a reduction of sick leave. Even though you might think you‘re resistant enough to fight the flu, you can threaten the good health of high-risk groups like pregnant women, children and people with chronic disease. Getting vaccinated has a strong protective effect on you, your coworkers and your community.
The vaccine clinic is open to the public but there are restrictions as to who can get it here for free. Not sure if you qualify for a free flu vaccine? Head to the Vancouver Island Health Authority website to find out!
