CDI College Fights Against Hunger and Malnutrition

Mississauga campus makes a difference with food drive for the local food bank

Mississagua, ON - November 16, 2011 - CDI College staff and students in Mississauga care about their community. They find great opportunities to get involved and meaningful ways to take action. On December 1, 2011, they’ll volunteer their time at the local food bank. Leading up to December 1st, the campus will hold a food drive, collecting non-perishables until November 25, 2011.

In this time of economic crisis and employment insecurity, more and more Canadians turn to local food banks to get some help meeting one of the most basic needs. Food drives raise awareness about hunger in the community, but most important, collect food for people in need and play an active role in the fight against malnutrition. Food banks rely on people, schools and businesses to host food drives and gather enough resources to help low income residents make ends meet.

CDI College’s staff members and students organize and participate to a wide range of charity events across the country. Mississauga, one of the newest CDI campuses in Ontario, does its part to contribute and demonstrates its community spirit by collecting food and giving time to their community. After the drive, CDI volunteers will also help sort and store goods at a local food bank.

If you want to participate, you can drop-off non-perishable food items (like: canned chicken and tuna, evaporated milk, muffin and pancakes mixes, dry cereals, oatmeal, spaghetti, canned fruits and vegetables, canned soups, dried fruits, jams and jellies, peanut butter and boxed juices) at the Mississauga campus until November 25, 2011.

For more information and updates on the food drive, find CDI College on Facebook and Twitter.
