    • Business Essentials provides an overview of business management today, including forms of ownership and the ways managers carry out their basic management functions in a skillful and inventive way.
  • BF1E Bookkeeping and Financial Accounting - Level 1 50

    • Emphasis is placed on analyzing and recording business transactions using the rules of double-entry bookkeeping. In addition, adjusting journal entries and everyday transactions for both service and retail businesses are recorded coupled with the preparation of basic financial statements.
  • BF2E Bookkeeping and Financial Accounting - Level 2 50

    • The use of special journals and subsidiary ledgers in an accounting system coupled with methods of recording and managing retail inventories are examined. Journalizing of payroll entries is included along with recording the purchase and amortization (depreciation) of fixed assets, as well as intangible assets.
  • BLAE Business Law 50

    • An introduction to Canadian business law is provided by using the case study approach that leads to a grasp of the key elements. The emphasis is on the application of the law to practical business situations.
  • BSTE Business Stats 50

    • An introduction to students of descriptive and inferential statistics. Uses of statistics, methods of sampling, collecting and presenting data, measures of average and variability, analysis of variance, analysis of cross tabulated data, and various topics which reinforce the use of business statistics.

  • DMGE Database Management 60

    • This course offers a case-oriented, problem-solving approach for learning Microsoft Access. Students explore basic and more advanced features of this powerful database management system.

    • Major economic variables affecting a business including interest rates, GDP growth, and forces of supply and demand are examined.
  • EFBE Effective Business Writing 40

    • The workplace of the twenty-first century demands excellent communications skills. The focus of this course is on learning writing techniques that ensure effective business communication.
  • ENTE Entrepreurship 50

    • A business plan is critical to a new business venture. Students will examine the step-by-step process of logical analysis of every aspect of the proposed business, and develop strategies to combat the principal risks that will face the business owner-manager.
  • HRME Human Resources Management 50

    • Employees are the most valuable asset of a business and all aspects from hiring to performance appraisal are examined utilizing the case study approach.
  • INTE Introduction to Computers 50

    • This course covers working with the Windows operating system to manage files and folders and customize the desktop, creating documents, and using the Internet for communication and research.
  • LEDE Leadership 40

    • The main focus for this course is the development of leadership ability. A basic understanding of leadership and group dynamics theory is presented. Developing a personal philosophy of leadership and an awareness of moral and ethical responsibilities, as well as recognizing one’s own ability and style of leadership.
  • MKGE Marketing 50

    • Marketing and sales are the key elements in the success of a business. This course provides an overview of the many elements of marketing, including developing, pricing, promoting, selling, and distributing various types of goods and services nationally and internationally.
  • OR1E Organizational Behaviour I 40

    • An introduction to the significance of organizations, and the influence of the manager on the organization and how things work within that organization. Managing individual differences for increased productivity and job satisfaction is stressed. The basics are presented on how to understand different behaviour within the workplace. Rational decision-making is emphasized.
  • OR2E Organizational Behaviour II 40

    • A more in-depth look is presented on group behaviour in organizations. Methods for managing groups to achieve productivity and satisfaction are explored. Again problem-solving and rational decision-making is emphasized.
  • PBSE Professional Business Skills 40

    • This course is designed to equip students with the skills necessary for dealing effectively with both customers and colleagues in the business world. Using a variety of instructional methods including role-plays, case studies, group exercises, simulated situations, and discussion, students learn and practice the customer service and interpersonal skills necessary for success in today’s business environment.
  • PRAC Practicum 100

    • This program includes a practicum component consisting of a specified number of weeks of work at a job site. This practicum work experience is a mandatory diploma requirement and the business organization does not pay for the services of the student during the practicum. The number of practicum hours varies between programs. To learn more about the specific practicum hours for a specific program, speak with an Admissions Representative.

    • Students will work with a variety of slide presentations to practice skills with Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will learn to prepare and deliver professional presentations.
  • RCME Recruitment and Selection Management 40

  • SIME Computerized Accounting with Simply - Levels 1 and 2 90

    • Accounting procedures in a computerized environment are examined using the General, Payables, Receivables, Payroll, Inventory and Project modules of Simply Accounting.
