Students begin with classes in information processing, learning Microsoft Word and Excel programs, keyboarding, and information processing before moving onto basic business procedures. Technical skills in medical terminology, human anatomy, and medical machine transcription are taught in later phases of the diploma program. In addition, a mandatory practicum is required for graduation, allowing students to apply their education in real-world scenarios. CDI College’s Early Childhood Education Basic – Level II diploma program prepares students with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to obtain the Level II certification through Alberta Family and Social Services, Daycare Staff Qualifications Branch. Graduates are employed in daycares or may seek work in other child-oriented service centres. The diploma program consists of several course categories including child development, programming, relationships, and related English courses. These courses focus on developing the language and behaviour of a child through instruction and play. Students learn how to organize and manage lesson plans which include activities in expressive arts, fine arts, storytelling, health and safety, and self-esteem building. Graduates of the program develop strong interpersonal communications, time management, organizational, and stress management skill sets. To graduate from the diploma program students must complete a total of 430 practicum hours in two phases. This practical work experience is crucial for students because it gives them hands-on experience in real work scenarios. Students will gain experience under the supervision of professional child care workers who become mentors and counsellors. more
The Early Childhood Education Advanced – Level III diploma program at CDI College provides professional certification for students who are interested in an advanced career in child care services. By combining both a theoretical and practical approach to learning, CDI College meets the instructional and practicum hours as set by the Alberta Family and Social Services, Daycare Staff Qualifications Branch. Not only are graduates qualified for positions in daycares and other child care service centres, but they can also apply for jobs in the capacity of Daycare Director. Students enrolled in this program must have a pre-requisite of Early Childhood Level II certification and must undergo an interview process. Once accepted into the program, students follow a study schedule focusing on several different course categories. Course subjects include lesson planning in the areas of child development with challenged children, physical education, math and science, drama, music, and art. Students also study family systems, team building, and are introduced to daycare management and administration. Finally, in order to graduate from this program, students must complete a professional process portfolio. more

The Expanded Training in Orthodontics is an training module designed for practicing Certified Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Hygienists wishing to augment their existing skills with further training in orthodontic treatments and procedures. Students will learn the categories of orthodontic treatment and to identify and perform dental maintenance on instruments, equipment and accessories used in orthodontics. They will also learn about various orthodontic appliances and their applications in treatment. In addition, students will also learn to prepare, organize and effectively perform various orthodontic duties, from accurate documentation of orthodontic procedures and health histories to fitting and removal of various appliances to assessment by the dentist. Once this module has been successfully completed, the student must apply to the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC) to have this designation added to their certificate. The Expanded Training in Orthodontics is an training module designed for practicing Certified Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Hygienists wishing to augment their existing skills with further training in orthodontic treatments and procedures. Students will learn the categories of orthodontic treatment and to identify and perform dental maintenance on instruments, equipment and accessories used in orthodontics. They will also learn about various orthodontic appliances and their applications in treatment. In addition, students will also learn to prepare, organize and effectively perform various orthodontic duties, from accurate documentation of orthodontic procedures and health histories to fitting and removal of various appliances to assessment by the dentist. Once this module has been successfully completed, the student must apply to the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC) to have this designation added to their certificate. This training module is 50 hours in length. *For those who do not have their dental certification, CDI College also offers an Intra Oral Dental Assistant program that trains you to enter the field of dentistry. more
